4D tech to make viewers feel on-screen movements

Canadian firm, D-Box Technologies has gone one step up from 3D technology to 4D in an attempt to lure back movie-lovers to the theaters.

Currently available in 50 cinemas across the US, D-Box's electro-mechanical seats allow the audience to feel the movements as they happen on-screen, reports said. The expanding layer in the seats combined with three motors move the viewer up, down and from side to side, depending upon the movement in the movie frame. The effects are carefully synchronized to the action, ranging from 'intelligent vibrations' to a popcorn-throwing jolt backwards if a character is punched on-screen.The highly advanced technology can even re-create the sensation of free-fall at double the acceleration caused by gravity. In addition, a panel on the side of the seat controls all the movements so that squeamish viewers can turn down the intensity. This innovation puts audience into great fun! :)
